Wilmington, Delaware, United States Job Description Academic Instructor Summary of Position Function:
To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop curriculum to meet developmental goals & instructional activities
  • Prepare lesson materials, manage the classroom, completing evaluation and feedback to students.
  • Measure progress and accomplishments of students toward their academic achievement on a regular basis and provide progress as required.
  • Adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the interest and learning styles of students.
  • Encouraging students to explore learning opportunities and Career Pathways.
  • Identify potential jobs, schools, military or other training programs and career development for separating graduates.
  • Assist in the development of the center's career development plan.
  • Records and forwards daily attendance to Student Records; maintains student personnel folders.
  • Models appropriate behaviors, mentors' students and monitors both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
  • Motivates and counsels' students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems or study habits.
Skills/Competencies:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Computer Literacy with basic computer functions, email, internet, and basic programs such as Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong knowledge of subject area of instruction and academic teaching practices.
  • High level of communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
  • High level of ability to motivate, inspire, and train students effectively.
