Upper Elementary Math & Science

Creative Learning Academy is seeking full-time Upper Elementary / Middle School Math & Science Teachers (Grades 5 & 6) for the 2026-27 school year. This position offers an opportunity to engage students in a dynamic, integrated program that builds deep conceptual understanding and fosters curiosity, problem-solving, and critical thinking across both disciplines. The qualified candidate will teach a rigorous, conceptually rich mathematics program grounded in Singapore Math, helping students develop strong number sense and problem-solving skills in areas such as operations, fractions, ratios, geometry, and early algebraic thinking. Instruction emphasizes the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) progression, bar modeling, number bonds, and mental math strategies, with a focus on reasoning, multiple solution pathways, and perseverance with complex tasks. In science, the teacher will guide students through an inquiry-based, NGSS-aligned program, utilizing resources such as Mystery Science in Grade 5 and IQWST in Grade 6. Students investigate anchor phenomena across Earth, physical, and life sciences, exploring topics such as ecosystems, energy systems, chemical changes, water cycles, and the particle nature of matter. Instruction emphasizes questioning, modeling, data collection, and evidence-based explanation, with regular integration of hands-on investigations and the engineering design process. Across both subject areas, the teacher will design engaging, student-centered lessons; use formative and summative assessments to monitor growth; and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. The ideal candidate values conceptual understanding over rote learning and fosters a classroom culture of curiosity, collaboration, and academic resilience. Candidates should have a degree in Mathematics, Science Education, Elementary Education, or a related field, along with prior classroom experience. Experience with NGSS, three-dimensional science instruction, and/or Singapore Math methodologies is preferred. This is a full-time, 10-month position.
