Job Summary Grace Holistic Center for Education is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Lead Math Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This role includes teaching students in grades 1-12, grouped by level into three instructional bands: grades 1-4, grades 5-8, and grades 9-12 , within a collaborative, block-schedule environment. We are a small private school that meets students where they are academically while nurturing the whole child—mind, body, and spirit. Our model emphasizes depth of instruction, strong relationships, and meaningful collaboration among staff. This position is ideal for educators seeking work-life balance, a flexible schedule, and a supportive team environment . Schedule Monday-Thursday (4-day work week) with prep time on or off campus Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Block schedule (longer instructional periods, fewer transitions) Built-in collaboration time About Our School Founded in 2016, Grace Holistic Center for Education seeks to further the illumination of the human spirit by integrating academics with social-emotional and mindfulness-based practices. We believe that creativity, critical thinking, and student connection are essential to learning. Our program includes daily mindfulness practices, collaborative learning structures, and opportunities for students to grow as engaged, thoughtful individuals. Position Overview The Lead Math Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering math instruction across three grade bands: Grades 1-4 Grades 5-8 Grades 9-12 Students are grouped by ability within these bands, allowing for differentiated instruction and targeted support. The teacher collaborates with a co-teacher during portions of each instructional block, allowing for: Small group instruction Individualized support Flexible grouping based on student needs Responsibilities Plan and implement a program of study aligned with Illinois standards and responsive to the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students Deliver math instruction across the three grade bands (1-4, 5-8, 9-12) Lead whole-group instruction and establish clear lesson objectives Differentiate instruction and prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual differences Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and materials to meet diverse learning needs Assess student progress regularly and provide feedback and progress reporting as required Maintain accurate, complete, and compliant records in accordance with school policy and regulations Collaborate with a co-teacher to provide small group and individualized support Maintain lesson plans and pacing using Planbook and provide evidence of preparation as requested Support structured academic blocks such as Focus 15 and Learning Lab Establish and maintain clear expectations for student behavior and classroom culture Maintain a safe and respectful learning environment Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues Participate in staff meetings, collaboration, and school initiatives Support school policies, procedures, and overall mission Supervise and support aides, volunteers, or support staff as needed Maintain professional competence and engage in ongoing professional growth Design and adapt curriculum with significant creative freedom to meet student needs and interests Utilize flexibility within instructional blocks to adjust pacing, grouping, and instructional approach based on student progress Perform other duties as assigned Collaboration Model Co-teaching is built into the schedule for portions of each block The Lead Teacher directs instruction and planning The Co-Teacher supports with small groups, reteaching, and individualized support Both roles share responsibility for student success and classroom culture. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education or a related field Experience teaching math at the elementary and/or secondary level Strong understanding of math progression across grade levels Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
Teaching license Experience with multi-level or mixed-age classrooms Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs Familiarity with mindfulness-based or whole-child education approaches Ability to teach middle and high school math Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to build and sustain positive, collaborative relationships Strong understanding of curriculum development, instructional planning, and student learning theory Knowledge of state standards, educational goals, and accountability expectations Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly Strong planning, organization, and communication skills Ability to facilitate both whole-group and small-group instruction Knowledge of current instructional practices, educational technology, and classroom management strategies Benefits 4-day work week (Monday-Thursday) Half-day Mondays and Wednesdays for prep (on or off campus) Strong work-life balance and flexible scheduling Built-in prep time Collaborative teaching model with built-in support Smaller class sizes Opportunity for creativity and autonomy in curriculum design Positive, relationship-based school environment
