Math Achievement Fund (MAF) Middle School Math Coach
Position Summary:
The Math Achievement Fund (MAF) Middle School Math Coach serves as an instructional leader dedicated to improving mathematics achievement for all students in grades 6-8. The coach works collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and district leadership to support the implementation of high-quality mathematics instruction aligned to Kentucky Academic Standards and evidence-based instructional practices. The Math Coach provides job-embedded professional learning, facilitates Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), supports Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) implementation, analyzes student achievement data, and works directly with teachers to improve instructional effectiveness. At least fifty percent (50%) of the coach's time will be spent in classrooms engaged in coaching activities, modeling instruction, co-teaching, observation, and providing feedback to teachers. The Math Coach serves in a non-evaluative role designed to build teacher capacity and improve student achievement in mathematics.
Reports To:
Chief Academic Officer and Building Principal Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instructional Coaching Spend a minimum of fifty percent (50%) of work time in classrooms supporting mathematics instruction through coaching cycles. Model effective mathematics lessons and instructional practices. Conduct classroom observations and provide non-evaluative feedback to teachers. Co-plan and co-teach lessons with classroom teachers. Support teachers in implementing research-based instructional strategies that promote conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, mathematical reasoning, productive struggle, and mathematical discourse. Assist teachers in differentiating instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Support teachers in developing a deep understanding of mathematics content, standards, and effective pedagogical practices. Build teacher capacity through sustained, job-embedded coaching focused on improving student achievement. Professional Learning and Leadership Design, facilitate, and evaluate professional learning opportunities focused on mathematics instruction. Lead and support Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) focused on student learning and instructional improvement. Promote collaborative problem-solving among educators. Serve as a mathematics instructional resource for teachers and administrators. Support implementation of district and school improvement initiatives related to mathematics achievement. Facilitate collaborative analysis of student work and instructional practices. Support teachers in setting and achieving professional growth goals related to mathematics instruction. MTSS and Student Achievement Serve as an active member of the school's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Team. Assist in identifying students requiring intervention, acceleration, or enrichment based on multiple data sources. Support teachers in selecting and implementing evidence-based Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III instructional and intervention strategies. Monitor the effectiveness of interventions and instructional supports. Collaborate with teachers, interventionists, counselors, special education staff, and administrators to improve student outcomes. Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of mathematics interventions and supports within the MTSS framework. Data Collection and Analysis Collect, organize, analyze, and communicate student achievement, assessment, and progress-monitoring data. Facilitate data discussions with teachers and leadership teams. Assist teachers in using data to inform instructional decisions and intervention planning. Support school and district efforts to monitor progress toward mathematics achievement goals established through the Math Achievement Fund. Maintain documentation and reporting requirements associated with the MAF grant. Teacher Support and Capacity Building Foster a culture of continuous professional growth and reflective practice. Support teachers in developing a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, content standards, and effective instructional practices. Assist teachers in creating rigorous learning experiences that engage students in problem-solving, critical thinking, and mathematical reasoning. Build teacher capacity to effectively implement high-quality mathematics instruction independently. Maintain confidentiality and professional relationships while providing coaching support. Additional Responsibilities Participate in district, regional, and state MAF meetings, trainings, and professional learning opportunities. Maintain all documentation, data collection, and reporting requirements required by the Math Achievement Fund grant. Collaborate with the Chief Academic Officer, principals, district leadership, and school staff to ensure successful implementation and sustainability of MAF initiatives. Support implementation of Kentucky mathematics initiatives and district instructional priorities. Perform duties directly related to the successful implementation of the Math Achievement Fund grant as assigned by the Chief Academic Officer or Principal. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding of middle school mathematics content and progression. Ability to build positive relationships and establish trust with staff. Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional coaching practices. Ability to facilitate collaborative teams and professional learning. Skilled in data analysis and instructional decision-making. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve district and grant goals. Physical Demands The employee must be able to perform duties associated with classroom observations, instructional coaching, professional development facilitation, and regular movement throughout school facilities. Minimum Qualifications Valid Kentucky Teaching Certificate. Master's Degree preferred. Minimum of five (5) years of successful middle school mathematics teaching experience in grades 6-8. Demonstrated expertise in mathematics content knowledge and instructional best practices. Experience leading professional learning, facilitating adult learning, and supporting teacher growth. Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Experience collecting, analyzing, and utilizing multiple sources of data to improve student outcomes. Knowledge of Kentucky Academic Standards, assessment practices, MTSS frameworks, and effective mathematics instructional strategies. Ability to establish positive professional relationships and maintain a collaborative, non-evaluative coaching role. Evaluation Performance will be evaluated by the Chief Academic Officer in accordance with the Menifee County Schools Certified Evaluation Plan and the Kentucky Math Achievement Fund (MAF) Coach Rubric and implementation requirements. Terms of Employment This position is funded through the Kentucky Math Achievement Fund (MAF) grant and is contingent upon continued grant funding and compliance with all grant requirements
