Grade 1 Teacher - 2026-2027 School Year
The Gateway Regional School District is seeking a Grade 1 Teacher at Chester Elementary School. The Grade 1 Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction that supports students' academic, social, and emotional growth while ensuring access to the general education curriculum. Third grade is an important transition year as students continue to develop strong literacy and mathematics skills while building greater independence, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong instructional practices, effective classroom management, and the ability to create an engaging learning environment that meets the needs of all learners. Collaboration with colleagues, families, and support staff is an essential component of this role.
Responsibilities include:
- Plans and delivers standards-based instruction aligned with district curriculum in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies
- Assesses student progress regularly and uses data to inform instruction and intervention
- Works collaboratively with grade-level teams, specialists, and support staff to meet student needs
- Participates in MTSS processes, including interventions and progress monitoring
- Communicates effectively with families regarding student progress and classroom activities
- Supports students in developing independence, responsibility, and strong learning habits
- Differentiates instruction to meet the diverse academic and social-emotional needs of students
- Maintains accurate records of student performance and progress
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned by the building principal
Qualifications:
- Valid Massachusetts Elementary (1-6) Licensure required
- Knowledge of evidence-based literacy and mathematics instruction
- Experience with differentiated instruction and meeting diverse learning needs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to fostering a positive school culture
Salary range is $52,803-$91,482, depending upon education and experience.
