Position Summary:
Parthum Middle School is seeking exceptional Middle School Math teachers to join our team who possess a growth mindset, value collaboration and continuous feedback, are passionate about their content, and have an unwavering belief that all students are capable of meeting rigorous academic expectations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Instruction & Curriculum Implementation:
  • Plan and deliver high-quality, student-centered math instruction aligned with the Illustrative Mathematics (IM) curriculum.
  • Implement problem-based learning strategies that encourage students to explore mathematical concepts deeply.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a diverse student population, including English Language Learners (ELLs) and students with special needs.
Student Engagement & Classroom Culture:
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters mathematical discourse, critical thinking, and perseverance.
  • Use culturally responsive teaching practices to support diverse learners in an urban setting.
  • Maintain high academic and behavioral expectations while supporting student growth and development.
Assessment & Data-Driven Instruction:
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Analyze student data to inform instructional decisions and interventions.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and communicate progress to families.
Collaboration & Professional Development:
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, instructional coaches, and administrators to implement best teaching practices.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development focused on Illustrative Mathematics, equity in education, and effective urban teaching strategies.
  • Engage in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Family & Community Engagement:
  • Communicate effectively with families and caregivers to support student learning.
  • Participate in school events, conferences, and outreach initiatives that strengthen family-school partnerships.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong content knowledge in middle school mathematics
  • Ability to develop and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons
  • Effective data analysis skills to inform instruction and intervention
  • Commitment to equity and culturally responsive teaching
  • Classroom management expertise and ability to build a positive learning environment
  • Willingness to collaborate and contribute to a team-oriented culture
  • Openness to receiving and applying feedback to grow professionally
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and Common Core standards
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field required; Master's degree preferred
  • Valid Massachusetts teaching license in Mathematics (Grades 5-8) or eligibility to obtain licensure
  • SEI endorsement or willingness to obtain
  • Minimum of 1-2 years teaching experience preferred, especially in urban public schools
  • Experience working with diverse learners, including English Language Learners
