Aug 24, 2026 Job Description The Oak Ridge School is searching for a Civics Through the 7C's Teacher. This is a specialist position teaching students in grades 3-6 the skills/values of:

  • Community The Civics Teacher at Oak Ridge School leads a dynamic and innovative Civics Special through engaging, student-centered learning experiences.
The Civics Teacher creates an inclusive learning environment that honors diverse perspectives, fosters meaningful participation, and empowers students to see themselves as active contributors to their school and community. Working closely with classroom teachers and school leaders, the Civics Teacher guides students through a developmental progression of civic learning. In Grades 3-5, instruction focuses on empathetic leadership through reflective listening, collaboration, conflict resolution, and project-based learning. Students learn to recognize and validate diverse perspectives while developing shared expectations and working cooperatively across differences. Through authentic learning experiences, students begin identifying real issues within their school and community and explore ways to take meaningful action. In Grade 6, the Civics Teacher facilitates a capstone experience that activates democratic agency and student leadership. This role requires a passionate educator who believes in the power of civic engagement, values authentic learning, and is committed to preparing students to become thoughtful, informed, and active members of their communities. Pay:
BA Step 1 through MA Step 1 = $60,617 - $69,950
Qualifications:
Elementary Ed certification required.
