Goal:
To create an engaging, respectful learning environment while delivering rigorous math instruction aligned with state frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver lessons aligned with the Massachusetts Mathematics Curriculum Framework (typically covering Algebra I or Pre-Algebra at Grade 8). Utilize Universal Design for Learning (UDL) guidelines to meet the needs of all learners. Implement authentic formative and summative assessments to measure student growth. Collaborate with the 6-12 STEM Curriculum Coordinator and grade-level teams. Effectively communicate student progress and data to parents and administration. Create a classroom learning environment that is engaging, orderly, secure and appealing for students and in which mutual respect is shown Carry out the school's disciplinary code and procedures in a fair and just manner Give assignments that reinforce classroom instruction Provide written assessments, referrals and evaluations when necessary for students with special needs. Participate in IEP meetings as required Participate in professional growth opportunities Attend staff or team meetings and serve on staff committees as necessary Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct Collaborate with colleagues to improve curriculum and instructional effectiveness with all students
Requirements:
Licensure:
Massachusetts DESE licensure in Mathematics (5-8 or 8-12).
Education:
Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred).
Skills:
Strong pedagogical knowledge of middle school math content and classroom management.
