POSITION SUMMARY
: Under the direction of the Instructional Supervisor for Mathematics at the specific level, the Mathematics Literacy coach provides support to the mathematics program by providing assistance to individual classroom teachers as well as small cohorts of teachers to accurately implement the mathematics program and the systemic Literacy Plan in assigned schools. The Mathematics Literacy Coach works directly with adults to support the implementation of the Emphasize Rigorous Literacy plan and the Maryland College and Career-Ready Standards plan for the district. The Mathematics Literacy Coach is an exemplary teacher who has demonstrated improvements in student achievement. The Mathematics Literacy Coach is knowledgeable about disciplinary literacy for mathematics. The Mathematics Literacy Coach will also provide feedback to teachers to assist them in improving teaching and learning. Brief Description This is a PGCEA, Table B, 11-Month Position Salary Range:

?May 22, 2026 Detailed DescriptionDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reviews county data for their specific schools and provides support to teachers in the form of collaboration, planning, co-teaching and/or coaching; Provides feedback to classroom teachers that supports delivery of effective mathematics instruction; Provides modeling and strategies for optimum teaching delivery and student results; Facilitates professional development with focus on mathematics content and pedagogy; Model literacy practices/lessons in classes, coach teachers on their implementation, and provide opportunities to engage in pre- and post-reflective discourse/analysis; Research and provide information and guidance regarding a range of effective and innovative literacy practices through various venues such as individual discussions (formal/informal), study groups, and professional learning communities; Collaborate with school leadership to identify, define, promote, support, and evaluate school wide literacy goals; Attends professional meetings and facilitates follow-up sessions with assigned teachers; Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Knowledge of the mathematics curriculum and current best practices at the appropriate grade band; Excellence in teaching; thorough knowledge of Maryland College and Career-Ready Mathematics Standards, assessment, and instruction; Ability to work well with teachers, parents, and administrators; Ability to coach, model, and build the knowledge and skills of teachers through professional development in the area of mathematics literacy; Excellent skills in analysis and use of data to support instructional decisions and acceleration of students. Strong technology skills and the ability to support schools with technology integration into the curricula, particularly in the areas of digital literacy; Excellent organizational and management skills; and Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree (Master's Degree preferred) from a regionally accredited college or university and five (5) years of successful teaching experiences mathematics instruction.CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Secondary Mathematics Certification required; and Advanced Professional Certificate appropriate to area of assignment issued by the Maryland State Department of Education.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
