Job Description

The Calverton School is seeking a full-time Mathematics Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. Reporting to the Middle School/Upper School Head, this educator will develop and implement a dynamic, student-centered secondary mathematics program aligned with Calverton's mission, values, and strategic vision. The ideal candidate brings passion for working with adolescents and a commitment to supporting students' academic, social, and emotional growth within a collaborative PreK-12 independent school community.
Responsibilities include:
Teach 4-5 sections of mathematics, with a possible elective Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and learning styles Create a caring classroom community through strong relationships with students and families Design engaging, student-centered learning experiences focused on inquiry, skill-building, and confidence Organize classroom systems that maximize student engagement and learning Use a variety of assessment methods, including project-based learning, and provide meaningful feedback Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within curriculum and classroom culture Participate in professional development and maintain a growth mindset Attend faculty, divisional, and departmental meetings Engage in school life through advising, coaching, chaperoning, or sponsoring student activities Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or related field (Master's preferred) Content knowledge in mathematics including algebra, geometry, statistics, and higher-level math (please specify on resume) Minimum of 1-2 years of math teaching experience preferred Enthusiasm for working with students and supporting the whole child Educational philosophy aligned with Calverton's mission and values Proficiency with instructional technology Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, families, and colleagues Commitment to contributing to a student-centered learning environment Must pass Federal and State background checks and MSDE Employment History Review
