Covenant House Academy is an alternative charter school enrolling more than 900 students, ages 15-22, to obtain their high school diploma. Our four campuses are located in Detroit and Grand Rapids. ROLE- Math Teacher Reports to:
Principal General Description:
Provide instruction and support to guide students through the high school Mathematics curriculum. Primary Responsibilities Develop lessons related to the high school mathematics curriculum Deliver high-quality instruction related to the high school mathematics curriculum Provide academic support to students individually and in small groups Review and grade student activities, assignments and assessments Implement school curriculum in accord with district standards and requirements Maintain and record weekly engagements with both in-person and virtual students Maintain a classroom environment that is safe, well-ordered and conducive to student learning Check student progress and understanding frequently through curriculum monitoring, group discussions/activities, and 1-1 conversations Meet with students regularly to discuss their goals, needs and academic progress Actively participate in subject-area Professional Learning Community Follow additional directives and assignments given by the Principal Essential Skills and Abilities A passion for serving at-risk youth A belief in setting high expectations for all students Excellent oral and written communication skills Highly organized Consistent follow-through Ability to implement effective instructional strategies Proficient in computer applications
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree MI Teaching Certificate or permit in Mathematics Satisfactory completion of criminal history check

ROLE- Math Interventionist Reports to:
Principal General Description:
Collaborate with teachers and students to help students build essential math skills and advance in the mathematics curriculum. Primary Responsibilities Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring in math. Work with the teacher to determine the instructional needs of students most in need of improvement. Administer math tests to identify the level of student achievement and diagnose areas of need. Design tutoring schedule for working with students. Check student progress and understanding frequently through curriculum monitoring, group discussions/activities, and 1-1 conversations. Meet with students regularly to discuss their goals, needs and academic progress. Maintain and submit required documentation, including, but not limited to, coaching logs and student performance data. Work in a professional and cooperative manner with others to achieve duties and responsibilities. Maintain and record weekly engagements with both in-person and virtual students. Maintain a classroom environment that is safe, well-ordered and conducive to student learning. Act in accordance with the directives and assignments given by the Principal. QUALIFICATIONS
