Upper School Math Teacher (Grades 6-10)

Reports To:
Principal Job Summary:
Center Cross Academy is looking for a dedicated and passionate Upper School Math Teacher for grades 6-10 to join our team. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing, Christ-centered learning environment that fosters spiritual, academic, emotional, social, and physical growth in young adolescents.
Key Responsibilities:
Spiritual Leadership:
Integrate biblical principles and Christian values into daily lessons and activities. Lead students in prayer and devotionals. Model Christ-like behavior and maintain a positive, loving classroom atmosphere.
Instructional Duties:
Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that align with the school's curriculum and educational standards. Teach core math subjects including algebra, geometry, and basic arithmetic. Potentially teach additional elective classes related to math or personal interests. Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
Classroom Management:
Establish and maintain a structured, respectful, and engaging classroom environment. Implement effective classroom management techniques to promote positive behavior and self-discipline. Communicate behavioral expectations and consequences clearly to students.
Assessment and Evaluation:
Observe and assess students' academic and developmental progress. Enter daily attendance and weekly grades for each subject into the school management system (FACTS). Provide regular feedback to students and parents through weekly grading (CCA Grading Expectations), progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences. Adjust instructional methods based on assessment data to support student growth.
Collaboration and Professional Development:
Work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student learning and school initiatives. Communicate regularly and in a positive manner with parents. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and Christian education principles. Take part in school events outside of school hours, such as Back to School Night, Open House, and others as indicated on the school calendar. Perform additional support duties, including lunch supervision, pick-up & drop-off door duty, detention monitor, etc. as requested.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Math Education or a related field. Master's Degree preferred. Valid Missouri teaching certification. Written statement of faith. Previous experience teaching middle school or high school preferred. Strong commitment to Christian education and the mission of CCA. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. A background check will be required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Ability to perform duties in a classroom setting, including bending, kneeling, and reaching.
