POSITION JOB GOAL
: To provide mathematical instructional coaching to the district's mathematics teachers as to ensure that each student is able to reach his or her academic mathematical potential. To assist mathematics teachers with designing their instructional units and lessons for the development of their yearly mathematics curriculum. To analyze data in order to modify curriculum and forms of assessment to meet students' mathematical needs. To participate in the planning, coordination and implementation of the district adopted Mathematics Curriculum Program.
QUALIFICATIONS
: Prefer, Master's Degree in mathematics from an accredited college or university. Valid New Jersey Department of Education teaching certification: Elementary Education and Middle School Mathematics and/or Secondary Mathematics. At least five (5) years of teaching experience. Prefer, at least two (2) years of experience working with adult learners, such as assisting teachers to achieve strong academic results with underachieving students. Leadership qualities to provide professional development. Strong knowledge of the mathematical curriculum and the preparation of daily lesson plans. Significant experience with mathematical instructional classroom strategies, student academic assessment, remediation activities/strategies, and data use, analysis, interpretation and display. Strong communication, problem solving, collaborative, organizational, and writing skills. Effectively communicates and understands job instructions both verbally and written in the English language. Knowledge of the LoTi Implementation Model. Ability to motivate, encourage, and challenge teachers to elevate the Level of Teaching Innovation (LoTi) in the classroom. The ability to initiate and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Demonstrated highly proficient mathematical and technology skills and the ability to implement the application of technology across the mathematics curriculum. Knowledge of mathematical test specifications of the New Jersey Standardized Assessments. Experienced in urban school education that is current with best practices and scientific based research in the mathematics curriculum and instruction. Experienced with the bench marking process.
