This vital role involves providing specialized support to students with diverse learning needs, particularly those with disabilities such as autism and developmental disabilities. You will collaborate closely with classroom teachers, special education teams, and families to develop and implement tailored instructional strategies that foster academic growth and social-emotional development. Your expertise in math instruction, behavior management, and curriculum development will be instrumental in creating an inclusive, engaging learning environment where all students can thrive. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' educational journeys while utilizing your skills in teaching, learning technology, and special education best practices. Duties Deliver targeted math instruction in the resource room setting, focusing on algebra, calculus, literacy education, and standardized testing preparation Develop and adapt individualized education programs (IEPs) to meet each student's unique needs and goals Implement evidence-based behavioral therapy techniques and applied behavior analysis (ABA) strategies to support positive behavior management Design engaging lesson plans that incorporate creative writing, curriculum development, and innovative learning technology tools Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify curricula for students with disabilities, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional approaches accordingly Provide tutoring and mentoring to students with diverse learning styles, including those working with autism or other developmental disabilities Maintain accurate documentation of student performance, IEP goals, and behavioral interventions following the Chicago Manual of Style standards Support classroom management efforts by establishing routines that promote a safe and respectful environment Engage in professional development opportunities related to deaf education, Montessori methods, or other specialized teaching techniques Requirements Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Mathematics or related field; Master's degree preferred Valid teaching certification with endorsements in special education or related areas Proven classroom experience working with students with disabilities in a resource room setting Strong knowledge of math curricula including algebra, calculus, and applied mathematics concepts Experience developing curriculum materials aligned with state standards and standardized testing requirements Familiarity with IEP development, behavioral therapy techniques, and ABA strategies Excellent communication skills for collaborating with staff, families, and external specialists Ability to implement behavior management plans effectively while maintaining a positive classroom environment Proficiency in learning technology tools and educational software applications Demonstrated ability to adapt lessons for diverse learners including those with autism or other developmental challenges Commitment to fostering an inclusive atmosphere that supports all students' academic and social-emotional growth
