About Canton Harbor High School Canton Harbor High School is a growing, dedicated Dropout Prevention and Credit Recovery High School serving approximately 100 students in Canton, Ohio. We are deeply committed to providing an alternative, highly supportive educational pathway for students working to overcome obstacles, recover high school credits, and successfully graduate. Funding & Alignment This position is a 100% grant-funded, supplemental position tied strictly to the federal Title I Non-Competitive Supplemental School Improvement (TI NC SSI) Grant . As required by grant guidelines, the responsibilities of this role are designated to support high-quality, sustainable school improvement activities in mathematics to increase academic achievement and support graduation rates. This position exists above and beyond the standard core curriculum requirements and cannot replace or supplant core classroom teacher-of-record positions. Key Responsibilities & Explanation of Duties In accordance with the

Category 5 (
Supplemental Instruction:
Mathematics) framework, the individual in this role will:
Provide Targeted Math Interventions:
Deliver high-quality, evidence-based instructional math interventions to individuals or small groups of students who are identified as lowest-performing or lacking credits.
Support Acceleration & Credit Recovery:
Implement mathematics acceleration strategies focused on helping credit-deficient students master state standards, close learning gaps, and progress toward graduation.
Implement High-Quality Supplemental Materials:
Utilize evidence-based Tier 2 and Tier 3 supplemental instructional math materials that align with Ohio's Plan for K-12 Mathematics and the Ohio Materials Matter rubric.
Utilize High-Dosage Tutoring Practices:
Facilitate targeted, intensive math support prioritized up to three (3) days per week to bridge learning losses and help students access grade-level math concepts.
Data-Driven Planning & Collaboration:
Analyze student performance and diagnostic data to guide the implementation of appropriate mathematics interventions. Collaborate with collaborative teams and school leadership to track and monitor student progress.
Maintain Compliance Tracking:
Routinely maintain precise "Time and Effort" logs or schedules as federally mandated, tracking the exact time percentage spent on grant-approved supplemental tasks and logging required student/adult outcomes. Required Qualifications & Education To comply with state-issued Title I grant assurances and ensure proper licensing, candidates must qualify under one of the following two pathways: Pathway 1:
Licensed Mathematics Educator Education:
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Secondary Education, or a related field.
Licensure:
A valid State of Ohio teaching license as a Mathematics Teacher or Mathematics Specialist for the high school grade band. Pathway 2:
Instructional Paraprofessional Option Availability:
An Instructional Paraprofessional is an eligible option for this supplemental position.
Requirements:
The candidate must fully meet all federal and state Title I Paraprofessional Requirements to provide supplemental instructional math interventions. General Requirements (All Candidates):
Experience:
Prior experience working with at-risk youth, dropout prevention, credit recovery programs, or alternative high school settings is highly preferred.
Knowledge Base:
Familiarity with evidence-based instructional strategies matching ESSA Level 1 ("Strong Evidence") requirements and Ohio's Integrated Multi-Tiered System of Supports (IMTSS) framework is an asset.
Documentation Note:
A current resume and explicit proof of all qualifications, certifications, or licensure must be provided upon application to be uploaded to the One Funding Application system. Established Outcomes & Progress Monitoring Per grant requirements, this position will be closely monitored for adult implementation and student growth outcomes. The instructor or paraprofessional will participate in progress monitoring utilizing the Department of Education and Workforce (DEW) common implementation observation tool to ensure strategy execution aligns directly with the building's One Plan goals.
