Dallas Community School (DCS) is a public charter school with two programs: a K-8 home-based learning model and Dallas Community High School (DCHS), an in-person, project-based learning program. Our K-8 program offers personalized, interest-driven education guided by licensed educators. DCHS engages students through real-world, hands-on projects, empowering them to take ownership of their learning and equipping them with skills for life beyond high school. Dallas Community High School is seeking a full-time High School Math Teacher who is passionate about connecting mathematics to the real world through project-based learning (PBL). The ideal candidate will bring creativity, flexibility, and a deep understanding of advanced math to an innovative learning environment. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with an interdisciplinary teaching team, design engaging projects, and guide students as they develop higher-level problem-solving, critical thinking, and applied reasoning skills.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Design and implement project-based math units aligned with state standards and incorporating advanced topics such as Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, or College Algebra. Incorporate connections to the natural sciences to highlight the real-world application of mathematical concepts. Foster a classroom culture that promotes curiosity, collaboration, and independent inquiry. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and support student mastery of complex mathematical concepts. Collaborate with colleagues to create interdisciplinary projects that link math to science, technology, and real-world issues. Use varied assessments — including performance tasks, portfolios, and presentations — to measure student understanding and growth. Integrate technology tools and digital platforms to enhance engagement and deepen learning. Participate in professional learning focused on project-based instruction, assessment, and curriculum design. Communicate regularly with students, families, and staff to support academic progress and success. Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Required Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field. Valid Oregon Teaching License (or eligibility for licensure) in Secondary Mathematics. Demonstrate competency teaching advanced high school math content. Commitment to student-centered, project-based, and experiential learning approaches. Preferred Master's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related discipline. Experience designing or teaching within a project-based learning framework. Familiarity with inquiry-based learning, standards-based grading, or competency-based education. Ability to incorporate technology tools such as Desmos, GeoGebra, or coding applications into instruction.BENEFITS
