Upper School Principal Hours:
1.0 FTE, Exempt Overview Serves as subject area teacher; teaches clubs and other classes, as needed. Performs lunch duty or other duties, as needed. Responsibilities/duties include, but are not limited to: Prepares and implements well-organized curricula in which students are engaged in relevant, thoughtful, challenging work. Differentiates lessons, units, assessments, etc. based on the needs of each student. Establishes a learning environment of serious scholarship and high expectations that supports students interests, talents, and needs. Employs techniques that stimulate critical (or divergent) thinking and problem-solving. Uses a variety of current technologies to enhance instruction and to advance students technological literacy. Uses various methods of assessment; uses assessment information to plan instruction. Supports students social, emotional, and academic growth. Defines, communicates, and upholds acceptable standards of student behavior and develops open communication, mutual respect, and rapport with students. Communicates effectively with all constituents. Fulfills time commitments. Spends time outside of school preparing. Contributes to a positive collegial environment; collaborates with colleagues. Strengthens skills and knowledge through reflection, feedback, workshops, seminars, and collegial sharing and participates openly and actively in professional development, mentoring, and coaching in a continual cycle of growth and reflection. Keeps accurate records and completes all tasks in a timely manner. Demonstrates appropriate depth of knowledge in subject matter. Models the behavior and expectations of our school community. Honors confidentiality. Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university, required Valid Rhode Island Department of Education Certification required Secondary Grades Mathematics Teacher 6-12 National background check (after offer) Citizenship, residency or work visa required
