Job Goal:

The Math Interventionist is responsible for supporting student achievement in the area of Mathematics with special attention to Tier II and III instruction. The Interventionist provides individual or small group instruction to students who are struggling academically. This position is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance.

Contract:

190 day contract (teacher salary) Reports to: Under the general direction of the school level Principal and Assistant Principal Desired Qualifications Teacher Certification in Secondary Mathematics Teacher Certification in mathematics Teacher Certification in Special Education Five years or more teaching experience A deep level of understanding of the RTI (MTSS) process Ability to incorporate state dept. support documents, standards, and data reviews for mathematics with rigor Ability to interpret and utilize the MAP Learning Continuum Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to apply instructional strategies on differentiation Strong organizational skills Ability to multitask needs between multiple grade levels and instructional levels Knowledge of collaboration practices, team teaching practices, and special education Ability to collect data and make placement recommendation for students Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with school administrators, staff, students, and families Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and staff information Essential Functions Provides high quality mathematics instruction to individual students and small groups Uses data to provide instruction to students and to bring their skills to grade-level Collaborates with teachers, administration, and families to help identify best practices for individual and small groups of students Uses identified research-based interventions focuses specifically on individual student needs Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress Provides data to school teams and participates in decisions about student progress Communicates with teachers, administration, and families regarding student progress Assists with identifying students for placement in intervention groups Participates in meetings with teachers, administration, and families to discuss student placement and progress Provides diagnostic assessments for students as needed Provides input for program development Uses a variety of hands-on and virtual activities and manipulatives to support content standards and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved Shall foster a classroom climate conducive to learning. Shall promote and maintain positive pupil-teacher relationships. Shall possess a strong commitment to help all children succeed. Shall maintain professional work habits through satisfying professional obligations such as: Managing job responsibilities while meeting established deadlines Honoring schedules Attending meetings Responding to information requests in a courteous, timely and helpful manner Maintaining regular and good work attendance Maintaining confidentiality of student and staff information.
