Primary Purpose:
To help students learn Construction and related skills at appropriate levels that will contribute to their development as mature, capable and responsible individuals.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Valid Texas teacher certification in Trade and Industrial Education (preferred)
Preferred Experience:
Experience:
At least three (3) years' experience in a Construction job or related field.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies:
Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of TEA curriculum in Construction. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles. Conduct assessment of student learning style and use results to plan instructional activities. Coordinate and serve as instructor for pre-professional construction careers. Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives and methods according to district and state requirements. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
Student Growth and Development:
Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal teaching. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits. Participate in related Career Tech Student Organization's (CTSO's) for their program including preparing and traveling with students to competitions if applicable.
Classroom Management and Organization:
Create classroom environments conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Professional Growth and Development:
Participate in staff development activities and attend professional development as needed or required. Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents and community members. Other duties as assigned

Exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases; may work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district-wide travel

Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy and procedures, and coordinate district functions
