Job Description
Instructor is responsible for teaching CDEC courses for the department of Child Development as needed. Compensation is based on type of course and number of students, paid by Part time employment agreement. Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, from a nationally, regionally, or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education required. Master's degree preferred. 1-3 years of teaching experiences preferred (College-level desired). Experience with distant learning desired. Effective classroom management and student engagement skills. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff. Demonstrated ability to teach subject matter through education, experience, and skills. Commitment to working with diverse and under prepared student populations. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to explain complex concepts in accessible ways. Knowledge of academic integrity standards and college-level expectations Commitment to equity, access, and student success. Must be efficient with using computers and learning various electronic systems such as Etrieve (electronic forms), Eagle Self Service and Blackboard. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff. Conducting classroom instruction at the highest possible level of efficiency and interest for students. Utilize instructional technology and the learning management system (LMS) for course delivery and communication. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress in compliance with college policies; submit certification rolls require by the Central Texas College Registrar office by submission due date. Communicate regularly with students regarding course expectations, progress, and resources. Notify the Department Chairperson immediately if it is necessary to be absent from class so that a substitute can be obtained. Maintain accurate and complete records on each student and submit required certification roles by the required deadline. Participate in orientation meetings, staff development workshops, and faculty meetings relevant to assigned duties. Ensure that the general and specific objectives defined in the syllabus are accomplished. Prepare and administer examinations that cover all materials taught and provide prompt feedback on exam results.
