Full Job Description Position Title:
High School Math Teacher (Part-Time Position Only)
Mission:
The Healy-Murphy Center (HMC) provides compassionate service to opportunity youth ("at-risk" youth) by focusing on individualized education in a non-traditional setting, early childhood development, and essential support services. HMC is a private, nonprofit alternative center where students can recover high school credits, earn a traditional diploma or if they choose, a GED in a trauma-informed setting. We empower our students to own their future with self-paced classes, free breakfast/lunch, case management, day care for parenting students, parenting classes, job placement assistance, flexible schedule for working students, reading and math skills supplemental support, career guidance, and an on-site health clinic to meet primary health care needs. High School Teacher:
We are seeking a candidate for High School Math (Part-Time). Due to the needs of our students, Math classes may have students in 9th to 12th grade, ages 14 to 22. Each student is self-paced following a TEKS aligned, teacher generated syllabus.
Salary, Benefits and Funding Source:
This position is locally funded, starting at $30.00 an hour based on experience.
Minimum Teaching Requirements:

High School Math Teacher Position Summary:
To provide trauma-informed practices to support students in a non-traditional high school setting. To provide students with appropriate learning activities in core academic subject areas designed to fulfill their maximum potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills that will prepare them for life-long success.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Course development with accommodations for differentiation with trauma-informed best practices. 2. Develop and implement a year-long course syllabus that fulfills the requirements established by the Texas Education Agency. 3. Analyze performance data to provide targeted instruction based on students' individual needs. 4. Work with other staff members to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to HMC requirements. 5. Work with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students as identified in Individual Education Plans (IEP). 6. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process. 7. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing. 8. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. 9. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Handbook 10. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to ensure classroom safety. 11. Participate in staff development activities for professional growth. 12. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and campus policies for classroom teachers, including daily attendance, punctuality, and confidentiality. 13. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other required documents. 14. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. 15. Comply with the Texas Educator's Code of Ethics. 16. Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job. 17. Performs other related duties assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position.
