Job Description

This position is a 1.0 FTE located at Taylor Elementary School.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists teachers in implementing an effective classroom mathematics program by: Monitoring and analyzing student achievement results. Developing daily and long range plans and strategies with teachers. Developing organizational and flexible grouping procedures with teachers. Demonstrating teaching strategies and methods for teachers through model lessons with students. Coordinating and facilitating communication about mathematics across grade levels and within grade levels. Planning and providing appropriate professional development to Grades K-5. Providing assistance to classroom teachers in implementing ideas and techniques gained through the professional development provided. Facilitating parent and teacher communication about mathematics.
EXPERIENCE
Experience and willingness to conduct model lessons. Ability to work effectively as a team member with colleagues. Ability to analyze student performance data.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure. K-5 Mathematics Specialist Certification (in progress or completed). Strong content knowledge in mathematics. Documented professional development in mathematics as a participant and as a leader. At least five years of mathematics teaching experience in grades K-8. Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.
