Charlottesville Middle School Summer Academy Teachers will teach Rising 9th graders at CATEC. Teachers will provide credit recovery instruction.
Schedule:
June 8-July 1 (no Fridays) 9:30 AM - 1:30
PM Application Requirements:

Essential Functions:
Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives. Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner. Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required. Effectively implement district initiatives.
Other Job Functions:
Abide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations. Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation. Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
Knowledge of Culturally Responsive Teaching strategies, reading and math intervention, and bilingual in English and another World Language preferred.
Education And Experience:
Candidates must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching certificate with an endorsement in Secondary Education covering the grade taught.
Physical Conditions And Nature Of Work Contacts:
Duties performed typically in school settings include: classroom, gym, cafeteria, auditorium, and recreational areas. Frequent walking, standing, light lifting, up to 40 pounds, and other limited physical activities are required. Occasional travel with students on field trips may be necessary. Occasional movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required. Regular Instruction to special needs children may be necessary. Occasional lifting of equipment such as audio-visuals weighing up to 50 pounds may be required. Daily personal and close contact with children to provide classroom management and learning environment support is required. Regular contact with other staff members and parents is required. Occasional contact with medical professionals may be required. Frequent contact with parents by phone and in person is necessary.
Evaluation:
The performance will be evaluated by the Summer Academy Administrator on the ability and effectiveness of carrying out the above responsibilities and the standards of the Teacher Performance Evaluation.
