Summer School - Teacher, Getting Ready for Pre-Algebra and Algebra

Current employees cannot receive pay for any summer school work until after their contract for their work days for the current school year have expired. Current employees with questions about their last work day should contact their HR Generalist for confirmation. Minimum Qualifications Must possess an active teaching license issued by the Virginia Department of Education in the desired content area. Pre-Algebra:

This is a non-credit course designed to strengthen and reinforce concepts and skills. It will enable students to prepare for the rigorous mathematics involved in Prealgebra 6. This session is available to students preparing to take Pre-Algebra 6/7 or Pre-Algebra 8 in 2025-2026. Getting Ready for

Algebra:

This is a non-credit course designed to strengthen and reinforce algebraic concepts and skills. It will enable students to prepare for more rigorous mathematics, and help students become effective mathematical problem solvers. This session is available to middle school students preparing to take Algebra in 2025-2026. Examples of Duties The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions/tasks: Develops lesson plans that include appropriate learning activities and instructional aids. Demonstrates concepts and skills by use of models, instructional aids, and technology. Provides individual and/or small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student. Assesses each student's progress and communicates with all stakeholders as appropriate. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities In-depth knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching Ability to interact effectively with students, staff, administrators, parents, and community. Hazards/Unusual Demands Work involves exposure to normal everyday hazards encountered in a school. Work is performed in a classroom and involves no unusual demands.
