•Required Qualifications:
1. Valid Washington State Teacher's Certificate with Endorsement in Mathematics 2. Satisfactory evaluationsQualifications Preferred:
1. Evidence of successful high school math teaching experience within the last five years. 2. Evidence of training or experience in curriculum development. 3. Evidence of motivating and instructing students of all ability levels in the area of math including previous experience or training in IB or willingness to be trained to teach IB. 4. Evidence of strong content area instructional capabilities at the high school level. 5. Evidence of providing for student individual learning styles. 6. Evidence of training and experience utilizing computer technology for word processing, grading, recording attendance, communicating by e-mail, and implementing these computer programs into daily use in the classroom 7. Evidence of motivating and instructing students of all ability levels with emphasis on providing for their individual learning styles-basic levels to extensions beyond basics. 8. Evidence of maintaining a positive, productive learning climate within the classroom as well as with parents and colleagues. 9. Evidence of awareness of the current changes affecting math education. 10. Demonstrated participation and growth in professional activities related to math education. 11. Willingness to participate in training in integrating curriculum and to implement integration in the classroom. 12. Punctual and consistent attendance.Job Description:
The successful candidate will be expected to: 1. Teach positions including algebra, geometry, financial math, and pre-calculus. 2. Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request. 3. Work pro-actively with all students through the establishment of clear expectations, the use of negotiation and compromise, and the maintenance of regular parent-staff communication regarding progress and behavior. 4. Work positively and constructively in a changing school environment, which is focusing on improving student learning. 5. Incorporate technology into the instructional process. 6. Participate in development of curriculum and implementation into instruction. 7. Participate in workshops and training sessions that support department's vision. 8. Use technology in the teaching and managing of students. 9. Work in a context with multicultural and at-risk students. 10. Knowledge of, and experience in, motivating reluctant students. 11. Create an atmosphere where cultural diversity is a strength. 12. Incorporate technology into the instructional process. 13. Be a "team" player by establishing and maintaining cooperative professional relationships with others. 14. Be innovative and committed to the challenge of change in education. 15. Be committed to success for all children. 16. Cooperate in schedule changes and accommodating in other needs for use of facility. 17. Participate in workshops and training sessions that support building programs. 18. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues. 19. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work outdoors in a wide variety of temperatures; from -10 degrees F to 100 degrees F +. The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in this work environment is moderate.Application Procedure:
In-District staff must complete an internal online application by 10:00 p.m. (PST) on or before the closing date. In-building/In-district staff will have eight school days, or eight working days during the summer to apply for a vacant position through the online application system. The employee may choose but will not be required to meet with the building administrator to understand the building practices, procedures and initiatives specific to the position to which they are applying. After eight days if an in-building employee is qualified for the position, the principal will offer the employee the position. In the case that more than one in-building employee is interested in a position, the position will be offered to the qualified and senior employee. If a position is not filled in-building after the eight-day period, the position will be offered to the qualified, most senior in-district applicant, if any. Teachers with a summative evaluation score of 1 or 2 are not eligible to transfer unless agreed upon by the District and Association. Out-of-District applicants must complete the online District application and attach a letter of interest, resume, valid Washington state teaching credential, and copies of transcripts with degree posted. All hires are subject to completion of a satisfactory criminal background check.
