Full Job Description Job Overview:
Adjunct Professor is expected to be teaching on-campus. Hours are Monday-Friday from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Adjunct Professor is teaching for a Medical Assistant program (higher education). Medical knowledge is a MUST. Primary duties include both on ground (lecture and lab) and online teaching; course development; student academic advisement; assessment of student learning; and participation in school-wide initiatives. Faculty must follow the approved curriculum. Faculty member is subject to school policies, including academic freedom.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Faculty members are expected to be effective teachers and excel in course instruction. Faculty must demonstrate deep subject knowledge, including key concepts, current and relevant research, methodologies, tools and techniques, and meaningful applications Plan and organize instruction to enhance student learning; create appropriate assignments to encourage student learning, the development of communication skills, and higher order thinking; and use available instructional technology, as appropriate Provide students constructive, encouraging, and corrective feedback. Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that result in clear communication of subject matter to the students. Be accessible to students through e-mail, wireless/cellular technology, or scheduled office hours including arranging, when necessary, additional time for appointments. Prepare and distribute syllabi in accordance with established procedures and guidelines and follow the published final exam schedule. Maintain accurate records of students' academic standing; promptly provide final grades, attendance, and other information as required by administration. Respect the confidentiality of student information; refrain from discussing or releasing such information except within recognized limits. Participate in instructional, departmental, or institutional research to improve educational effectiveness. Participate in instructional and school planning Attend and participate in professional development Review and provide feedback in regards to the programs' curriculum Provides students with accurate information about the programs offered Participates in new student orientations (as needed) Participates in school activities to promote the school goals Participate in school audits and regulatory visits. The faculty member will attend regular scheduled faculty and staff meetings. Perform miscellaneous job- related duties as assigned. Maintain a professional relationship with students at all times Advising Student advising includes time spent meeting with students regarding academic progress. Evaluate students based solely on their academic performance and to respond promptly to student grade questions and/or appeals.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in nursing, medical assisting, or a related field of specialization. Possess thorough and accurate knowledge of his or her specific field/discipline including the ability to evaluate and apply content. Be committed to professional development by keeping current in their respective discipline. Maintain faculty credentials as required by the regulatory agencies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Ability to use Canvas (LMS Management System). Ability to develop and deliver presentations Strong communication and ability to work effectively in a diverse environment Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues. Knowledge of program offered including academic units, curricula and programs Skills in the use of computerized systems and databases Knowledge with school policies, standards, and procedures While not required, proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
