Position:

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Applied Mathematics, beginning Fall 2026. We particularly welcome candidates with research interests in numerical methods for the optimal control of partial differential equations. This is a fixed-term appointment, with the possibility of renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in applied mathematics, with an emphasis on computational methods, or a closely related field, by the start date. The successful candidate will pursue an active research program, collaborate with faculty, and seek external funding. The position includes a reduced teaching load. Qualifications Applicants should demonstrate expertise in at least two of the following areas: numerical analysis of partial differential equations, optimization, numerical linear algebra, and continuum mechanics. Salary Range:

$55,000 - $68,000, commensurate with experience and job specifications.
