This position will include 5th and 6th-grade math classes in our Greengate School division, which provides student-centered learning and research-based instruction for students with dyslexia. The position will also include a 7th-grade Math course in our bridge program, supporting students who have moved out of the Greengate program. The teacher in this position is a member of both the Greengate and Middle School divisions and will work closely with dyslexia specialists. Primary Job Responsibilities:
Plan, supervise, and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum following the philosophy of Greengate School and Randolph School and in collaboration with other grade-level teachers and specialists Honor individual learning needs and capacities in the classroom, adapting teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests Demonstrate a history of collaborative relationships with parents and colleagues Maintain an effective, safe, inviting, well-organized classroom Effectively monitor and manage student learning using a variety of assessment methods to evaluate student progress Demonstrate effective written and oral communication (parent conferences, written correspondence including narrative reports) Integrate the teaching of effective organization and study skills Use our Learning Management System to communicate and organize assignments Create a supportive and inclusive environment and develop respectful relationships with students by using conflict resolution and problem-solving techniques within the classroom Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning through active participation in professional growth activitiesQualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Math or Math Education required, master's degree preferred Relevant 2-3 years of classroom teaching experience preferred Completion of the Orton- Gillingham Associate level Part I training (70 hours total), with the endorsement from the OGA Fellow, within the first year of employment Completion of Multi-Sensory Math I within the first year of employment Knowledge of and/or experience working with dyslexic students preferred Student-centered, collaborative, approachable, actively involved in the full program of the school Interest and ability to contribute to our clubs, athletics, and extracurricular programs is an additional consideration.
