After-School Program Staff - Fall 2026 Great Hearts Academies Phoenix, AZ Job Details Part-time $15.85 - $17.00 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Some college High school diploma or GED Working with children Education Full Job Description Great Hearts Academies is hiring After-School Program staff at all academies in Arizona.
Shift:
Varies per campus. 15-20 hours per week. Typical start time is 2:00-2:30 p.m. on regular release days. As early as 11:30 a.m. on early release days.

Early August for 2026/2027 school year
Position Description:
Facilitate activities and supervise K-5 students in the after-school program. This is a wonderful opportunity for aspiring educators or for those who love working with children. This is a part-time, seasonal, non-exempt, non-benefited position. After-school programs are open Monday-Friday from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m. (earlier start on early release days). Duties & Responsibilities Supervise up to 20 students in a classroom setting. Facilitate homework, recess, and other activities. Present a daily activity from provided classical curriculum. Utilize appropriate child guidance and classroom management strategies. Model and instill Great Hearts 9 Core Virtues (responsibility, perseverance, integrity, honesty, courage, citizenship, humility, friendship, wisdom). Follow standard operating procedures to ensure high quality programs. Follow all licensing rules and regulations per AZDHS. Follow protocols for responding to and documenting student behavior and significant events. Escalate incident reports and significant events to supervisor. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Competencies & Strengths Some college and experience working with children preferred but not required for all roles. Lead Teachers must be at least 18 years old, have 3 months of experience in a qualifying setting (degree in education/related field accepted in lieu of experience), and minimum of high school diploma. Program Assistants must be at least 17 years old. Must meet qualifications set by AZDHS for employees of licensed childcare programs. The successful candidate will be a principled, professional leader with an independent work ethic and a heart of service to others. Preference will be given to those candidates who have worked in a licensed program. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Additional Requirements Will be required to obtain IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card upon hire.
