  • Provides an educational program for pupils in high school, and assists in other school programs as assigned.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Teaches assigned courses to middle school students, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Trustees. 2. Instructs pupils in citizenship and other general elements of the course of study specified by state law and procedures of the school district. 3. Develops lesson plans and learning experiences to meet the needs of the individual pupil. 4. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. 5. Evaluates pupil's academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, prepares grade reports, and communicates with parents concerning the individual pupil's progress. 6. Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems. 7. Creates, with assistance from pupils, a functional, age-appropriate and attractive environment for learning. 8. Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service educational activities provided by the district, and/or self-selected professional growth activities. 9. Provides an atmosphere which is enjoyable as well as instructional. 10. Performs basic attendance accounting and keeps other records as required. 11. Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Position Qualifications:
1.
Credential:
General Secondary, Single Subject Credential, Multiple Subject, or other appropriate California credential authorizing service in the position described. 2.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree, including all courses to meet credential requirements. 3.
Experience:
Student teaching (8 semester hours or 180 clock hours) or two years of full-time elementary experience.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Visual ability to read handwritten or typed documents, and the display screen of various office equipment and machines
  • Able to conduct verbal conversation
  • Able to hear normal range verbal conversation (approximately 60 decibels)
  • Able to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, bend and walk

  • Able to operate office machines and equipment in a safe and effective manner
  • Able to demonstrate manual dexterity necessary to operate a calculator, typewriter and/ or keyboard.
Physical:
  • Good physical condition; able to pass District physical.
Work Year 181 Days Salary Appropriate placement on teacher's salary scale.
