THE POSITION
Under the supervision of the Administrator of Educational Programs, the Culinary Arts Instructor provides high-quality, hands-on Career Technical Education (CTE) instruction in culinary arts to ACCESS students. The instructor will create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment that supports skill development, industry readiness, and positive outcomes.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Deliver standards-based culinary arts instruction aligned with CTE pathways and industry expectations
  • Provide hands-on training in food preparation, safety, sanitation, and kitchen operations
  • Adapt instruction to meet the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs of justice-involved youth
  • Foster a positive, trauma-informed classroom environment that promotes student engagement and growth
  • Support students in developing employability skills, including teamwork, communication, and professionalism
  • Maintain a safe and organized kitchen/classroom space in accordance with facility and health regulations
  • Collaborate with site staff, administrators, and support services to ensure student success
  • Track student progress and maintain accurate records in alignment with program requirements
  • Ability to work effectively in secure, structured environments
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must successfully pass an extensive background check and clearance process, including fingerprinting and any additional requirements specific to working in probation, juvenile detention, and court school settings.
  • (3) years of related work experience in the culinary, baking, and pastry field.
  • (1) year of the required experience must be within the last two years.
  • Possess or be eligible for a Career Technical Education (CTE) Credential.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
