$31,370 - $43,436 (50%) Length of Work Year 188 Employment Type Part Time Job Summary Job Summary The Multiple Subject Alternative High School Teacher Half-Time is employed by John Muir Charter Schools (JMCS) and is responsible for classroom instruction of young adults participating in the Sacramento Regional Conservation Corps in Sacramento. This position has the possibility to expand to full time depending on student enrollment. Sacramento Regional Conservation Corps and JMCS's innovative education programs are designed to provide youth, 18-25, with an engaging educational experience that meets individual needs. We combine classroom-based instruction, project work, credit recovery, life skills, technical job training and other academic experiences into a highly personalized high school diploma program. Classroom activities are combined with top notch vocational training provided by Sacramento Regional Conservation Corps (SRCC). There are two academic classrooms, and each is a self-contained class with approximately 15-20 students; the part-time instructor facilitates all academic content, including collaboration with Special Ed department to appropriately address needs of students with an
IEP. JMCS
provides curriculum and support, and the instructor is held responsible for creating a dynamic, engaging, rigorous, and supportive experience for our students. This position will be supported by SRCC staff who provide vocational training, work experience and case management. JMCS staff on site work collaboratively with the SRCC staff to support the success of the students. Teachers are expected to actively engage in all school-wide professional development, which includes several all-school Zoom Meetings throughout the year, as well as non-student teacher planning days, monthly JMCS Director meetings, and New Teacher Training (for all those new to our school) via Zoom during the first week of August. The position is part-time salaried.
