Beyond the Screen Families is seeking passionate, certified educators to lead engaging, hands-on enrichment classes at school campuses throughout Orange County. If you believe learning should be active, joyful, and inspiring, and you love helping children explore, create, build, and discover, we'd love to hear from you. This is a flexible 1099 independent contractor position ideal for teachers, retired educators, substitute teachers, homeschool educators, and other certified professionals who are available during after-school hours. Compensation $35
- 60 per teaching hour, depending on experience, program type, and class size Curriculum and lesson plans provided Materials and supplies provided Flexible teaching opportunities throughout the school year Schedule Classes are held on school campuses during after-school hours.
Typical teaching times include:
1:30 PM
- 2:30 PM 2:00 PM
- 3:00 PM 2:30 PM
- 3:30 PM 3:00 PM
- 4:00 PM Most classes are one hour in length and meet once per week for multi-week sessions.
Opportunities may range from a single weekly class to multiple classes per week based on school partnerships, enrollment, and instructor availability. Applicants must have weekday availability during these after-school hours. Responsibilities Lead engaging enrichment classes for elementary-aged students Facilitate hands-on learning experiences using provided curriculum and materials Create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment Adapt lessons and pacing based on student needs, interests, and engagement levels Encourage creativity, curiosity, collaboration, and problem-solving Maintain effective classroom management while fostering a fun learning atmosphere Arrive prepared and on time for all classes Communicate professionally with school staff and the Beyond the Screen Families team Ensure student safety and well-being at all times Qualifications Required Current teaching credential or certification or experience teaching children in a lead capacity Previous classroom teaching experience Experience working with elementary-aged children Reliable transportation to school sites Ability to pass any required background checks Preferred Experience with enrichment programs, STEAM, science, makerspace, project-based learning, outdoor education, or hands-on learning experiences Strong classroom management skills Ability to think creatively and adjust instruction in real time What We're Looking For Our ideal instructor: Has a genuine passion for working with children Brings energy, enthusiasm, and creativity to every class Understands that great teaching requires flexibility Can confidently adjust lessons, activities, and pacing based on student needs Creates meaningful connections with students Thrives in a dynamic learning environment Believes every child deserves opportunities to explore, create, and succeed About Beyond the Screen Families Beyond the Screen Families empowers children and families through creative, hands-on learning experiences that foster curiosity, confidence, connection, and lifelong learning.
