BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Under the direction of the site principal and Director of Educational Services or designee, the primary role of the Intervention Teacher (Secondary Math) is to develop, implement, monitor, and support tier 2 intervention programs. They also ensure the academic achievement of struggling learners through teaching intervention class periods.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Permanent status in LUSD
- Meet district standard performance ratings on Stull evaluation and, in the preceding four years, have no unsatisfactory or needs improvement rating
- Three years or more of teaching experience in secondary education
- Clear Single Subject Teaching Credential in Mathematics or Supplemental Authorization in Math.
- Appropriate certification to teach English language learners (CLAD, BCLAD, SB1969 certificate, BCC or LDS certificate) or willingness to make a commitment to gain certification within one year of the assignment

- Strong understanding of literacy development and instructional strategies in mathematics
- Proficiency in using research-based math assessment, instructional strategies, intervention approaches and methodologies
- Knowledge of differentiated classroom instructional practices that promote student academic success
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with a diverse population of students, teachers and parents
- Ability to maintain a positive and supportive learning environment for students
- Knowledge of California State Content Standards and Frameworks
