Full Job Description General Summary:
The Learning Canvas (TLC) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Academic Facilitator to inspire and guide students (TK-8th) through hands-on, experiential learning. Facilitators serve as the primary educator in the classroom, creating a dynamic, inclusive, and engaging environment where students explore, experiment, and develop a love of learning. At TLC, learning is interactive, project-based, and student-centered. Facilitators act as guides, mentors, and co-learners, leading activities that encourage curiosity, collaboration, and creativity.Schedule:
Monday & Wednesday, 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM on-site (additional hours for prep and events as needed, up to 25 hours per week). Essential Functions include, but are not limited to, the following: Manage student behavior, enforce classroom expectations, and create an inclusive environment. Stay updated on educational trends and participate in professional development. Develop and implement lesson plans, adapt methods to diverse learning styles, use technology, and facilitate problem-solving to specific grade levels. Lead and facilitate hands-on learning experiences, including reading together, class discussions, experiments, games, and projects. Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-organized classroom environment that reflects TLC's values and learning philosophy. Assist students in arranging the learning environment, setting up materials, and maintaining classroom displays. Implement lesson plans in alignment with TLC's curriculum, adapting to student needs and interests. Observe, support, and assess student progress, documenting growth and preparing reports as required. Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple demands simultaneously while maintaining professionalism and flexibility. Communicate effectively and respectfully with students, colleagues, and parents, maintaining confidentiality at all times. Use independent judgment and initiative to identify opportunities to support student learning and classroom goals. Collaborate with the Student Experience Coordinator and other staff to continuously improve classroom practices and the overall student experience. Perform additional duties assigned to support the smooth operation of the program.Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:
Strong understanding of and enthusiasm for hands-on, project-based, and student-centered learning. Ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that addresses diverse learning needs. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing responsibilities with minimal supervision. Comfort with flexible and dynamic learning environments.Education and Experience:
Academic Facilitators do not need to be credentialed, but it is preferred. Experience working with children in educational or enrichment settings; homeschool or small-group experience preferred. Credentialed teachers preferred but not required. Homeschool experience preferred. Ability to create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learning needs.Pay:
