Job Description

The After-School Teacher provides academic coaching and educational enrichment instruction to elementary and middle school students in one of six EBAYC After-School Learning programs at Roosevelt Middle School, Urban Promise Academy, Garfield Elementary School, Manzanita Community School, Franklin Elementary School, and Lincoln Elementary School. We seek passionate and mission-driven youth development practitioners who love to work with and facilitate the academic, social, and emotional development of middle school and elementary school students. Core Responsibilities 1. Lead multiple grade-level and interest-based learning groups of up to 20 students. 2. Plan, prepare, and implement curriculum that foster skill and knowledge development in literacy, mathematics, and educational enrichment. 3. Plan, prepare, and facilitate grade-level and program-wide community building activities. 4. Plan, prepare, and organize family learning nights. 5. Maintain on-going communication and collaboration with parents and teachers. 6. Integrate the participation of assigned high school teaching interns and/or U.C. Berkeley student volunteers. 7. Collect and submit all required student-level registration, attendance, and survey data. 8. Participate in all EBAYC Expanded Learning Team meetings and activities. Minimum Qualifications 1. Ability to manage, engage, and support a class of up to 20 students. 2. Ability to plan lessons and effectively deliver instruction. 3. Ability to communicate effectively with parents and teachers. 4. Knowledge of and commitment to working in and building a culturally-responsive, trauma-informed, healing-centered youth and family service organization. 5. Knowledge of and commitment to EBAYC's vision, mission, and theory-of-change. 6. Fluency in Mam, Spanish, Cantonese or Vietnamese is desirable., but not required. 7. 48 College semester units or passage of the ACOE Instructional Assistant Examination. 8. Negative Result on tuberculosis test. 9. LiveScan background clearance.
Work Schedule:
Part-Time Wage Employee 5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, 1:00pm to 6:00pm
Work Period:
185 work days from Monday, August 3, 2026 through Thursday, May 27, 2027, excluding observed EBAYC holidays and OUSD Professional Development Days.
Compensation:
$25 to $28 per hour and earned
Sick Leave Pay:
$25.00 - $28.00 per hour
