August 2026 We will have openings for a part-time middle school teacher for the 2026-27 academic year. Parnassus Preparatory Academy is a twice-weekly drop-off academic enrichment program supporting homeschool students in their pursuit of classical education. Classes are led by passionate and knowledgeable teachers and provide academic accountability and meaningful socialization. We seek teachers who are dedicated to the craft of teaching, know and love the subjects they teach, who understand and love children, and who are prepared to model the intellectual and moral virtue we seek to cultivate in our students. Parnassus Preparatory Academy is a community that forges moral and civic virtue, fosters wisdom, and nurtures a lifelong passion for learning. We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced in-person multi•subject teacher for our upper school program (Grades 7th-8th).

Subjects include:

Saxon Math 8/7, American Studies, Earth Science and Middle School Literature 1. Candidates should fill out a teacher interest form on our website. Only candidates who fill out the interest form will be considered.

//www.parnassusprepacademy.com/employment Candidates need not have a teaching credential but should have a college degree. Preference will be given to candidates with an advanced academic degree. A classical education background is helpful but not required. As part of the interview process, we ask each teacher candidate to commit to a day when they can observe one of our master teachers and prepare a single lesson to demonstrate. The subject for the demonstration lesson will be selected by the administration. As teachers at Parnassus Preparatory Academy are responsible for the intellectual and moral atmosphere of the program. As such, candidates should: § be well-organized § be able to communicate professionally with families § exhibit intellectual curiosity § use precise, edifying, and moderate speech § contribute to a collegial faculty across the program Training will take place in mid-August with classes starting early September.

Pay:

$26-28/hr with paid preparation time. Each subject meets for one hour twice per week and the compensation includes a paid prep hour per week per class.
