This role focuses on building teacher capacity through coaching, modeling, and on-going professional learning, with an emphasis on ensuring instructional consistency and equity at Natomas Middle School. The TOSA will collaborate with teachers and site leaders to close implementation and achievement gaps and support inclusive, high-quality learning environments aligned with NUSD's strategic goals. Qualifications Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Proven ability to provide job-embedded coaching and instructional support to teachers to implement effective, standards-based instruction using district-adopted curriculum, supplemental resources, and tiered interventions.
  • Facilitate co-planning, co-teaching, and feedback cycles that support high-quality instruction and equitable classroom practices.
  • Design and deliver professional learning that builds staff capacity and promotes instructional alignment across school sites.
  • Collaborate with site and district teams to identify and address implementation and achievement gaps through targeted support.
  • Support teachers in using multiple measures of assessment to inform instruction and ensure appropriate placement and intervention for NUSD's diverse learners. Experience with data analysis and reporting to track intervention success and student progress.
  • Promote the use of inclusive practices that support student engagement and academic success for all learners, including English Learners, students with disabilities, and historically underserved populations.
  • Utilize data dashboards and visualization tools to monitor progress, guide decision-making, and communicate instructional trends and needs.
  • Contribute to a culture of conttinuous improvement through participation in professional learning communities (PLCs), collaboration networks, coaching cycles, and equity-focused initiatives.
  • Model evidence-based instructional strategies that align with culturally responsive teaching practices.
  • Collaborate with the Equity in Excellence workgroup and site teams to align efforts with districtwide strategic goals and equity-focused priorities.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • A valid teaching credential required with a minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience.
  • Strong understanding of intermediate and secondary standards-based instruction, evidence based instructional strategies, instructional coaching, and curriculum implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting teachers through collaboration, data analysis, and coaching cycles (co-planning/co-teaching, demo lessons, and feedback).
  • Commitment to educational equity and closing achievement and opportunity gaps for all students.
  • Experience using multiple forms of data to inform instruction and drive instructional improvement.
  • Proficiency with district-adopted curriculum, materials, instructional resources, data systems, and digital platforms. Experience with and/or knowledge of Building Thinking Classrooms, Read 180, Math 180, i-Ready and IXL preferred.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills to build capacity among educators and improve student outcomes. Comfortable training and coaching in 1:1, small group, and large group formats.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and foster a shared vision for instructional excellence across diverse school communities.
