As a Lead After School Program Staff member, you will play a key role in planning and facilitating enriching activities, fostering a positive classroom culture, and supporting students' academic, social, and emotional development. Lead Staff serve as positive role models, mentors, and facilitators who create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where every student can succeed. This position includes supervising student groups, maintaining program documentation, collaborating with fellow staff, and helping ensure the successful implementation of high-quality after school programming. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement weekly lesson plans that include enrichment activities, academic support, and structured play. Lead daily lessons, clubs, games, and enrichment activities with enthusiasm and confidence. Create a safe, welcoming, and relationship-centered environment where every student feels included. Serve as a positive role model by building meaningful relationships with students and fostering a fun, engaging, and respectful learning environment. Supervise students and maintain positive classroom management using restorative and positive behavior strategies aligned with school expectations. Provide individualized support to students while encouraging independence and growth. Maintain an organized classroom and program space, ensuring supplies, materials, and equipment are clean, well-maintained, and ready for daily activities. Review and stay informed of daily updates, announcements, and communications from Program Leadership. Maintain attendance, daily logs, incident reports, and other required program documentation, and communicate promptly with Program Leadership regarding student needs, incidents, concerns, and program updates. Collaborate with Support Staff and school personnel to ensure smooth transitions, student safety, and high-quality programming. Take initiative in daily program operations and provide guidance and support to Support Staff as needed. Follow all school, program, and safety policies and procedures. Education and Experience Required High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience working with TK-8th grade students in an educational, childcare, recreation, or youth development setting. Strong facilitation and classroom management skills. Ability to lead engaging activities and build positive relationships with students. Must be reliable, flexible, and committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive program environment. Ability to develop, submit, and implement engaging lesson plans while maintaining a structured classroom environment. Preferred Knowledge and Experience Two or more years of experience working with TK-8th grade students. Two or more years of experience developing and leading enrichment activities, clubs, or lesson plans. College coursework or a degree in Education, Child Development, Psychology, Recreation, or a related field is preferred. Bilingual skills (especially Spanish, Tagalog, or Vietnamese) are highly desirable. Experience working with students with special needs, English learners, and diverse learning needs is preferred.
