The Harker School | Lower School BEST Program School Year Position | Monday-Friday | Approximately 3:00-5:00 p.m. Do you have a passion or special talent you'd love to share with elementary-aged students? The Harker School is seeking enthusiastic and engaging After-School Class Instructors to teach one-hour enrichment classes as part of our Lower School BEST (Before & After School Enrichment and Supervision) Program. We're looking for instructors who can inspire curiosity, creativity, and confidence while creating a fun, safe, and welcoming learning environment. Whether your expertise is in art, STEM, coding, robotics, cooking, sports, music, theater, chess, foreign languages, dance, science, or another specialty , we'd love to hear your ideas! What You'll Do Teach engaging one-hour enrichment classes for students in Kindergarten through Grade 5. Develop creative, age-appropriate lesson plans that encourage participation and learning. Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment where students feel welcomed and supported. Manage student behavior using positive reinforcement and effective classroom management techniques. Take daily attendance and communicate any concerns with BEST administration. Arrive prepared with all necessary lesson materials and equipment. Supervise students until they are picked up by BEST staff at the end of class. Participate in required trainings and follow all Harker policies and safety procedures. Collaborate professionally with the BEST team regarding schedules, supplies, and program needs. We're Looking For Someone Who Is at least 18 years old . Has experience teaching, coaching, leading activities, or working with elementary-aged children (preferred). Has demonstrated expertise or experience in the subject they wish to teach. Is energetic, creative, and enjoys working with children. Has strong communication and interpersonal skills. Is reliable, organized, punctual, and able to work independently while collaborating with a team. What You'll Bring Successful instructors are able to: Engage students with varying interests and skill levels. Create a safe, organized, and respectful classroom environment. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff. Observe student behavior and respond appropriately using positive behavior management techniques. Adapt lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners. Use basic technology and standard office equipment as needed. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Stand and actively engage with students for approximately 2.5-3 hours. Lift and carry instructional materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Respond appropriately in emergency situations, including providing basic first aid assistance if necessary. Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Why Join Harker?
