STAR Education is seeking enthusiastic instructors for the 2026-2027 school year to teach enrichment classes in Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, and Westlake . We are looking for candidates with strong experience in one or more of the following areas: Digital Art Minecraft LEGOs Hip Hop Dance Sports (Gymnastics, Basketball, or Soccer) Music Theory Other enrichment subjects Instructors will travel between school sites and transport program materials provided by STAR. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an engaging after-school enrichment program serving TK-5th grade students . Our programs help students build skills, explore new interests, and enjoy learning experiences they may not find elsewhere. For those interested in teaching, STAR's after-school programs offer excellent hands-on experience in a supportive educational environment. Schedule Monday through Friday 2:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Commitment Candidates must be available for the full 2026-2027 school year . Intersession work is not guaranteed. General Requirements Experience working with TK-5th grade students Reliable transportation Punctual, dependable, enthusiastic, responsible, resourceful, and flexible Commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and academic levels Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment Knowledge and Skills Basic child development principles and practices Safe classroom and outdoor activity procedures Classroom procedures and appropriate student conduct Basic record-keeping skills Strong oral and written communication skills Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary Policies and procedures of assigned programs and activities Basic computer and software operation Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy Health and safety regulations Strong knowledge of assigned subject matter Essential Duties Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families Build positive relationships with students Demonstrate leadership and a commitment to educating and empowering youth Apply age-appropriate classroom management and behavior support strategies Assist with daily attendance Transport supplies and materials to and from school sites Serve as a positive role model and encourage respectful social behavior Operate classroom, office, and audio-visual equipment as needed Maintain student health and safety by following program procedures and completing incident reports when necessary Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized learning environment Independently lead groups of approximately 14-20 students in TK-5th grade Attend required teacher training, including Classroom Management training Review lesson plans during prep time and implement them effectively Arrive on time and provide a safe, educational, and enjoyable class experience Demonstrate creativity and the ability to work effectively under time constraints Physical Demands Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate classroom and office equipment Ability to sit or stand for extended periods Ability to bend, kneel, and crouch while assisting students Visual ability to read materials and monitor student activities Hearing and speaking ability to exchange information clearly Ability to actively participate in physical activities with children, including walking, running, and jumping Work Environment Indoor classroom settings Outdoor activity spaces Frequent interruptions requiring flexibility and adaptability Additional Requirements Must pass a background check and TB test Must complete required paid Department of Social Services online training within 90 days of hire Must have reliable transportation Must be comfortable transporting program materials to school sites How to Apply To apply, please submit a resume and cover letter describing your experience in your subject area and your teaching experience.
