Part-time, Salary About Carden Conejo School Carden Conejo School is an independent, nonsectarian Preschool-Middle School school located in Thousand Oaks, California. For nearly 60 years, Carden has been known for its strong academic foundation, small class sizes, and commitment to developing the whole child. Rooted in the Carden Method, our program emphasizes clarity of thought, strong literacy and math skills, and a deep respect for character development. Students benefit from a rich, well-rounded curriculum that includes specialist instruction in subjects such as science, art, music, French, technology, and physical education. Position Overview Carden Conejo School is seeking a passionate, engaging, and student-centered Middle School Spanish Teacher to help launch and grow our expanding Middle School program. This educator will inspire students to develop confidence and proficiency in Spanish through immersive instruction, meaningful conversation, cultural exploration, and interactive learning experiences. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about working with adolescents, values whole-child education, and believes language learning should be dynamic, joyful, and connected to real-world communication and culture. This teacher will help foster curiosity, global awareness, and strong communication skills while contributing to a warm, collaborative school community grounded in character, academic excellence, and meaningful relationships. This position is ideal for an educator who is excited about helping to build and grow a developing Middle School program. As the school expands each year, the role may evolve to include additional teaching opportunities, electives, student leadership programs, advisory responsibilities, clubs, cultural enrichment activities, and curriculum development within the World Languages department. Instruction & Curriculum Teach engaging middle school Spanish classes using age-appropriate immersion strategies, conversation practice, games, storytelling, music, projects, and cultural activities Foster students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in Spanish Create a positive classroom environment that encourages confidence, participation, and risk-taking in language learning Develop lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials aligned with school goals and student needs Differentiate instruction to support a variety of learning styles and levels of language proficiency Incorporate cultural studies, traditions, geography, and global perspectives into instruction Utilize technology thoughtfully to enhance language acquisition and student engagement Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary and project-based learning opportunities Student Support & Community Build positive, supportive relationships with students and families Encourage student growth in responsibility, organization, collaboration, and character Communicate regularly and professionally with parents regarding student progress Participate actively in school life, events, performances, field trips, and community activities Serve as a positive role model who reflects the mission and values of the school Professional Responsibilities Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and student records Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives Collaborate closely with school leadership and fellow faculty members Continue developing professionally in world language instruction and adolescent education best practices Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; degree in Spanish, Education, World Languages, or related field preferred Teaching credential preferred Fluency in Spanish required Previous middle school teaching experience preferred Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills Passion for language instruction and cultural education Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to create a warm, structured, and engaging classroom environment Preferred Characteristics Energetic, creative, and collaborative Passionate about whole-child education and character development Comfortable contributing to a growing and evolving middle school program Skilled at making learning interactive, meaningful, and student-centered Enthusiastic about building school culture and community Willingness to contribute creatively to new programs, electives, traditions, and student experiences as the school expands annually Interest in becoming a long-term member of a collaborative and growing school community Schedule & Compensation Approximately 15 instructional hours per week School-year position running from August 24, 2026 through June 15, 2027 Includes school holidays and approximately five weeks of paid school breaks

Commensurate with experience
