Omar D. Blair Charter School is a Kinder - 8th Grade DPS School in the Far Northeast. ODB educates and provides all scholars the opportunities and support needed to enable them to develop abilities and skills to function successfully in society. Omar D. JOB SUMMARY
Academic Interventionists report directly to the School Principal and Assistant Principal(s). They deliver differentiated and joyful instruction that supports bridging learning gaps and leads to academic achievement. Academic Interventionists collaborate in the development of scholars who are performing below grade level in reading and math in any grade from kindergarten through 8th grade. Interventionist support with academic intervention groups and programs. They ensure academic best practices are implemented to bridge academic achievement gaps. Interventionists participate in academic 'push-in' and 'pull-out' small group instruction, 1 on 1 scholar support and other classroom support including co-teaching concepts, when necessary. Academic Interventionsist work closely with other school personnel to ensure that data is utilized effectively to improve scholars' academic achievement and ensure growth schoolwide, district wide and in State assessments. Interventionists provide scholars with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the academic subject areas assigned to help them fulfill their potential for academic, intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. They understand and can implement childhood development strategies and are able to communicate effectively with school aged children and their families. They are responsible for supervising scholars and supporting them in guiding their development. Interventionists duties include developing and following academic intervention lesson plans for scholars with different abilities. Academic interventionists support in teaching social skills through guided activities, assessing student projects, and co-teaching. Academic Interventionists support curriculum practices that align with ODB's culture of connections, management and response, while also meeting state and national academic standards. Interventionists promote an atmosphere of safety which ensures mutual respect between scholars, families and staff members. ODB Academic Interventionists also uphold the responsibility of recording and reporting scholar progress data to the school's administration along with being able to manage personal and common planning, data meetings, and professional development.
