Job Description

Middle School Math Teacher (Bilingual Preferred) — Ricardo Flores Magón Academy Seeking creative, passionate, social-justice-oriented teacher leaders. We know burnout in education is real. The last several years of disruption have stripped much of the joy out of classrooms, and great teachers are leaving the profession. At Ricardo Flores Magón Academy, we remember why we got into this work — and we bring that energy to our students every single day. At RFMA, you'll teach within a coherent, research-based curriculum while bringing your own creativity, lens, and lived experience into how it lands for kids. Our culturally responsive, social-justice-oriented mission shapes everything we do, and we are looking for educators who want to be part of that. If this resonates — or if you are looking to reconnect with the spark that brought you into education — we would love to hear from you. We are also happy to schedule a school tour so you can see RFMA in action.

Our middle school operates on a departmentalized 4-day rotation with a structured Friday, giving you the time, planning blocks, and coherent schedule to actually teach the way Carnegie is meant to be taught: problem-based, discourse-rich, and built on productive struggle. You'll be part of a tight middle school team inside a small, mission-driven school where your work is visible and your students are known. Mission The mission of an RFMA Classroom Educator is to create and sustain a culture of high expectations and socially conscious learning aligned with CCSS and the Colorado Academic Standards. Core Responsibilities Plan and execute high-quality math instruction across grades 6, 7, and 8 using the Carnegie Learning Middle School Math Solution, including pacing guides, unit plans, daily lesson plans, and interim assessments aligned to grade-level standards. Build a coherent 6-8 math progression that prepares students for high school algebra and beyond, with intentional vertical alignment across ratios and proportional reasoning, expressions and equations, functions, geometry, and statistics. Facilitate Carnegie's problem-based model with fidelity — leading rigorous mathematical discourse, supporting productive struggle, and balancing conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and application. Differentiate for multilingual learners by attending to the language demands of math — academic vocabulary, sentence frames, and discourse structures — aligned with WIDA standards. Embed culturally relevant context into problem-solving tasks, mathematicians studied, and the visual environment of the classroom, so that every student sees themselves as a mathematician. Foster a strong middle school math culture where mistakes are treated as learning, every student is positioned as capable, and adolescent identity is honored alongside academic rigor. Track and act on student data , using i-Ready, CMAS, and curriculum-embedded assessments to drive small-group instruction, reteach cycles, and intervention.
