Job Description

Oxford Public Schools is looking for a dynamic educator to ignite student curiosity in the area of STEM. Applicants must hold current CT State certification in one or more of the following areas: Math (029), Science (030, 031, 032, 033, 034), Computer Science (110) and/or Technology Education (047) Middle school experience preferred. Support the design and implementation of a robust, project-based curriculum that serves as an engaging elective experience for all students in grades 6-8. Facilitates the instruction and oversight in the use of varied instructional technologies, including CAD software, 3D printing, robotics, computer programming and other technologies related to engineering. Guides students through the Engineering Design Process to solve real-world problems, emphasizing the transition from scientific hypothesis to iterative prototyping and testing. Effectively manages the learning environment to optimize student learning and engagement to meet the needs of all students. Creates an atmosphere conducive to exploration, innovation, and learning, while maintaining the physical condition and organization of the classroom and materials. Demonstrates expertise in laboratory safety and management, overseeing the use of scientific instruments and consumables while maintaining a secure environment for high-engagement, kinetic learning. Reviews, selects, and acquires tools and technology to accommodate different learning styles and promote student engagement. Ability to collaborate with colleagues to improve the learning of all students; ability to positively engage students and families in the learning process. Proactive, flexible team player and effective communicator. Other duties as determined by the principal.
