Job Description

Job Summary Join our vibrant Sunday school program at our Reform Temple, Congregation Shir Shalom, as an Educator dedicated to inspiring lifelong learning of Judaism, helping students to foster friendship with each other and build a strong Jewish identity. In this paid role, you will create a welcoming environment where young learners can learn Jewish values, holidays and history. Your enthusiasm and leadership will help foster a meaningful educational experience that combines religious teachings with social-emotional development. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of children and their families through engaging lessons and compassionate mentorship. Responsibilities Develop and deliver age-appropriate lessons that align with the temple's values and curriculum standards. Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation, curiosity, and respect among children Incorporate creative teaching methods, including storytelling, arts and crafts, music, and interactive activities to enhance learning experiences Support children's social-emotional well-being through active mentoring, empathetic listening, and guidance Collaborate with temple staff and parents to ensure each child's spiritual and developmental needs are met effectively Assist in planning special events, holiday celebrations, and community outreach activities that promote engagement and learning Maintain clear communication with colleagues about classroom progress, behavioral concerns, and program updates Qualifications Proven experience working with children in educational or social settings; teaching or mentoring background preferred Excellent communication skills to effectively connect with children, parents, and team members Knowledge and background of Judaism. Ability to plan engaging activities and manage classroom dynamics confidently Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for diverse backgrounds Join us in transmitting Jewish values to the next generation!
