Job Description

Pine Point School seeks a full-time energetic, creative, and collaborative Middle School Math teacher. The School is committed to each student's academic, emotional, and social development through an inquiry-based, experiential program that fully engages our students in the learning process. The successful candidate will be able to collaborate with colleagues in a progressive educational environment and be dedicated to the Pine Point School mission of helping students develop a strong academic and ethical core, a lifelong curiosity about their world, and a commitment to reaching solutions creatively, collaboratively, and compassionately. At Pine Point, mathematics is taught as a tool for understanding the world. We seek an educator who moves beyond traditional formulas to foster conceptual understanding and real-world application. This position involves teaching Middle School math, collaborating with the Middle School team on interdisciplinary projects, and serving as an advisor to support students' social-emotional growth.
Key Responsibilities Instruction:
Design and lead inquiry-based math lessons that emphasize conceptual depth, collaborative discovery, and real-world application.
Curriculum Integration:
Work collaboratively with MS colleagues to create interdisciplinary connections (e.g., bridging math with science, art, or environmental stewardship).
Advisory & Mentorship:
Serve as a Middle School advisor, advocating for students and fostering a sense of community and responsibility.
Collaboration:
Participate in department and faculty meetings, the Evergreen program, and support school-wide events and admissions efforts.
Communication:
Cultivate positive, transparent relationships with students and their families through regular communication and conferences. A bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred. Middle School teaching experience with a deep understanding of the unique cognitive and developmental needs of young adolescents. Proven experience with hands-on, inquiry-based math pedagogy and the ability to differentiate instruction to support a wide range of learners. Ability to organize and implement a developmentally appropriate learning program that emphasizes mathematical modeling and problem-solving over rote memorization. Demonstrate a commitment to creating a positive environment and a sense of safety, belonging, and engagement for every student. Interest and commitment to facilitating outdoor education, using our 67-acre campus and wooded trails to bring mathematical concepts (such as geometry, data collection, and scaling) to life. Ability to integrate technology and digital tools to enhance mathematical exploration and visualization. Possess a warmth of personality, energy, a sense of humor, and a genuine interest in participating in the broader life of the school community.
