COACH Two Birds is seeking a full time Coach to mentor, guide, and support teachers in their understanding and implementation of an emergent curriculum. This is an opportunity to shape and develop the culture of immersive and emergent approaches to learning within the school. This position is needed due to an opening at our Tenleytown School! The Coach works directly with, and is mentored by, Two Birds' Director of Curriculum and Coaching. In this role, the Coach works with teachers individually and in teaching teams, both in and out of the classroom. Work includes coaching teachers of infants through pre-k, reviewing learning plans with the local leadership team and providing feedback to classroom teams, as well as planning and facilitating professional development trainings and sessions. In addition to collaborating with leadership on strengthening practices within classrooms and implementation of centerwide initiatives, the Coach collaborates with the school's Studio Teacher to guide teachers on overarching ideas and interests that emerge in the classroom. The ideal candidate has a foundation in early childhood education, experience in emergent teaching practices, and a passion for working with teachers who are at various stages in their understanding and implementation of emergent practices. Two Birds is looking for someone with a love for working with children and fellow educators! Also note, the Curriculum Coach is required at times to be in the classroom to ensure ratios are maintained and help teachers. Although this is not a main part of the position, it does happen and want candidates to understand this could be part of the role.
QUALIFICATIONS A
love for working with young children and a high level of respect for children, teachers and families Deep understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and the importance of a culturally responsive, anti-bias approach to teaching Knowledge of strong practices related to classroom environment, planning, parent/ teacher relationships, and comfort modeling these best practices with teachers Familiarity with emergent curriculum and/or the Reggio Emilia approach Experience teaching children infant through age 5 Experience facilitating professional development for teachers (or willingness to), writing lesson plans, communicating through writing High level of comfort receiving and providing feedback Reflective
- takes time to reflect on experiences and identify next steps and/or areas of strength and areas to grow Creative and flexible thinker and doer
- willing to think outside the box when problem-solving or creating Strong communication skills (understands the importance of clear and timely communication).
Both written and oral communication skills needed. Able to work collaboratively with a variety of teams (classroom teams, administrative team) and independently as well as to manage multiple tasks at a time; organized Strong Technology skills and working with teacher on tech platforms (google, BrightWheel etc) Covid-19 Vaccination required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 5 years experience in Early Childhood Education Minimum of an
Associates Degree Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree

SCHEDULE
