2026-2027 School Year The appointee will be responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of enrichment services to provide students with advanced learning and enrichment activities, experiences and opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must hold State of Delaware Certification in Teacher of Students who are Gifted and Talented Experience in a school setting as a gifted/enrichment teacher Broad cultural interests and enthusiasm Demonstrated abilities in planning and leading staff development activities Skill in stimulating independent study and creativity Demonstrated competency in classroom teaching Knowledge of technology desirable Strong communication and organizational skills Willingness to attend summer training Must be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per workday. Minimum lifting requirements- 50 pounds (with assistance). Must be able to use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical, mobility, and ambulatory needs of students

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Responsibilities:
Support students under the Talent Development Program with cross-curricular activities aligned to the Delaware Recommended Curriculum. Coordinate the referral process for the enrichment program. Assist with the planning for and meeting with students identified as having behaviors that reflect above average ability, high levels of task commitment, and high levels of creative thinking. Identify areas of student strengths and weaknesses and plan broad-based learning experiences and activities. Set up problems, experiments, projects and activities related to student needs, interests and capabilities. Communicate regularly with students, parents, and administrators regarding growth of students in program. Serve as resource for new teachers. Develop appropriate learning experiences with a variety of curricular options, strategies, materials and topics of student choice for enrichment students. Collaborate with Instructional Coaches to help general education teachers differentiate curriculum and instruction to meet the needs of students within the regular classroom setting. Consult with and assist general education teachers to enable them to provide resources and enrichment opportunities to all students. Research and review best practices, current literature, teaching practices, pedagogy, methodology, content knowledge, etc. Collaborate and communicate best practices with staff. Serve as a model of professionalism to building staff. Facilitate the preparation and implementation of independent study projects in the area of interest and/or competence. Provide training and in-class support to teachers in various areas of enrichment and differentiation. Lead and facilitate the Differentiated Instruction Team comprised of teachers, parents and community resources/agencies/personnel to assist in coordinating enrichment activities. Work with teachers to differentiate instruction. Disseminate resource material to teachers, students, parents and staff. Serve on District curriculum committees as needed. Communicate with students, parents, principals, teachers, district and community about the Talent Development Program Identify and plan for the affective, social, psychomotor and academic needs of the able learner.
