Job Description

Overview Join our vibrant educational community as an After-School Chess Coach, where you will inspire and empower students through the timeless game of chess. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to foster critical thinking, strategic skills, and confidence in young learners. As a key part of our after-school program, you will create a fun, engaging environment that encourages growth, sportsmanship, and a love for learning. Responsibilities Lead engaging chess lessons and activities tailored to students of various ages and skill levels Manage classroom dynamics to ensure a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment Tutor students individually or in small groups to improve their game strategies and understanding Develop lesson plans that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and sportsmanship Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to encourage continuous improvement Maintain organized records of attendance, student achievements, and lesson plans Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and school staff about student participation and progress Requirements Prior experience teaching or tutoring children or adolescents in an educational setting Strong classroom management skills to maintain discipline and focus during activities Knowledge of chess rules, strategies, and teaching techniques suitable for children Excellent communication skills to clearly explain concepts and motivate students Ability to create a welcoming environment that fosters learning and confidence Experience working with diverse student populations and understanding their unique needs Passion for education, child development, and promoting strategic thinking through chess
Pay:
$40.00 - $50.00 per hour
